We've been working closely with the Hampshire County Council SPARK team; further updating the design and functionality of the SPARK website.

The SPARK website was setup by Hampshire County Council for Hampshire's children in care and care leavers. The SPARK website allows young people to find out what they can expect, are entitled to, and their rights whilst they are in the care of Hampshire. The SPARK website offers young people in Hampshire the opportunity to have their say about the care they receive, discuss issues with other young people in care and ask questions to those who make decisions about their lives.

We've been working with the Hampshire County Council SPARK team to update the design of the website and add new functionality for Hampshire SPARK users. New creative and technical areas of the Hampshire SPARK website we've worked on include:

Animated homepage graphics using CSS sprites and jQuery.

  • New internal page template options allowing a much more flexible design.
  • Commenting with text and Emojis for logged in users.
  • Adding Google Translate to the website.
  • Improving the text search functions.
  • Adding the option for an alert banner at the top of pages.
  • Adding a scrolling news banner on homepage.
  • Updating the website's Umbraco CMS to the latest version allowing for improved formatting, layout and security.

We've also provided the Hampshire SPARK team with full Umbraco CMS and Contour training sessions.
