Animation and visual effects production have begun on The APE Theatre Company's piece Pills Thrills.
The award winning APE Theatre Company has performed to well over a million people.
It was set up by Matt Kane in 1988 to produce new plays by young writers, and to give young performers and directors a medium in which to produce their work.
APE actors have in the past, and continue to feature in a number of high profile theatre, television and film productions.
Hotbox Studios have recently collaborated with APE to produce Pills Thrills @ Automobiles.
Pills Thrills is a drug-drive documentary-play aimed at 16 to 21 year olds.
The material is taken from real-life interviews and tells the true story of four 18 year olds in 1997, who after a weekend of drugs and sleep deprivation at a music festival - crashed horrifically on the motorway.
Two of the victims died; one at the scene and one after being airlifted to hospital. The other went into a coma to leave one surviving passenger who witnessed the whole tragic incident with hardly a scratch.
The play is APE's first attempt to incorporate video and animation during the performance and the show is expected to tour for over ten years.
Pills and Thrills has been backed by the UK government, A.C.P.O. and debated in the House of Lords.
APE were even invited into the houses of parliament to discuss the show.
An interim presentation and filming of Pills Thrills took place at Guildhall - London in August 2003.
Hotbox Studios produced animation, visual effects and film for APE Theatre's Pills Thrills, and also worked on pre and post production including: research and development, and post production for live performance projection.
Prior to the beginning of its forthcoming UK tour - the piece will be performed between Monday 18th and Friday 22nd October.
