2012 Olympics to drain Arts Funding

2012 Olympics to drain Arts Funding

Please take a moment to oppose the unprecedented 35% cut in arts funding, and stop the chancellor using Lottery money to plug the funding gap in the 2012 Olympics. If this goes ahead at least £900m will go from Big lottery, Sport England, Arts Council and Heritage Lottery.

This will affect all those working in the arts, and their audiences. Much of this money would fund projects within the local voluntary and community sector. Services to disadvantaged people will be directly affected by the loss of this funding, people who will have no opportunity to benefit from the Olympics directly but rely on local services provided by the voluntary sector.

HotBox Studios Sponsoring Team Flamingo

The Exeter based mountain bike team (Team Flamingo) HotBox Studios sponsored in the Nightrider12 event at Plymouth's Newnham Park on April 28th 2007 came in 3rd! A podium finish!

"The whole event was brilliant! Real festival atmosphere all through the night. The course was quite tricky, some of the single-track was hard to follow in the dark. In the woods I was seeing sparkly bits in my vision from all the concentration on blackness and the adrenaline of being chased!" said Carrie Burgess.

"Team Flamingo got surprisingly competitive; we nearly caught the ladies team in front who are all national riders. We did beat the boy's team from the local bike shop though! Thank you again for sponsoring us, we couldn't have done it without you. We've raised over £1000 for Force and the money is still coming in." continued Carrie.

The Digit01 tour begins in Ipswich on 1st March 2007. HotBox Studios collaborated with Random Dance in filming elements of live dance, digitally manipulating the film, and restoring some original film and animation content produced by John-Paul Harney. The content was then edited for projection within the live performances.

Digit01 aims to address the notion of improving visual literacy for young people, giving them the opportunity to engage with the high quality, multi-disciplinary, non-literal approach to dance for which Random has gained an international reputation.

Inspired by Alice Through the Looking Glass, Digit01 is dance for the 21st century: an exploration of virtual reality and the web.

Digit01 combines dance, electronic music, film and animation to bring to life concepts of the internet such as e-mail, computer networks and cloning.
